Charlemont Methodist Church together with the local Guide Ranger unit are wholly supporting this project. Grant awarded in October 2012

Proposed by one of the Ranger Guides to develop a safe and secure Queens Diamond Jubilee Garden behind our premises as part of a three year journey to complete the highest Award in Guiding and become a Queens Guide.

Now in late August 2013 we have done the boundary and started the garden, and have spent the final grant amount on gravel boards, slabs etc. Now in November 2013 the circular lawns are laid, and some plants put in with a membrane covering open ground. In September 2014 the concrete base for the retaining wall has been laid – see photos. Further work has been done on the retaining walls and the steps and more is planned – April 2015.

To try and complete the garden & decking, we have been successful in applying for some of the Express & Star with Homeserve “Cash for the Community” grants scheme 2016. The amount we receieve depends on the number of tokens we collect. So please come and collect as many E&S tokens for us. There’s one in every weekday edition and two in Saturdays. Please start collecting on Thurs 15th Sept until 22nd October 2016. Thankyou.

At last, the Jubillee Garden is complete and opened for use on 24th September 2017. See the latest photos. and come to have a look on a Sunday morning.
